This treatment shampoo has been developed by leading hair specialist, Tony Maleedy. The motivating factor was to produce a treatment that would clear scale from the scalp – and keep it clear – a large number of people have used anti-dandruff shampoos, but found that the scale returned as soon as they stopped using them.

The aim of the Tony Maleedy shampoo is not only to clear the scalp of scale and control the level of Malassezia organism, but to slow the increased epidermal turnover associated with dandruff and other scalp disorders, therefore having a long term effect on the health of the scalp, as opposed to  a short term clearing of scale.

This is a unique shampoo treatment that includes a rich blend of natural therapeutic oils, white thyme, tea tree, rosemary and corn mint, all of which have natural anti-microbial and antiseptic properties. These are blended with juniper tar (cade oil) for its ability to sooth and calm irritated scalp tissues, and Piroctone Olamine which possesses high intrinsic microbial inhibitory activity against Malassezia. Tony Maleedy Juniper Therapy Shampoo and Minoxidil 

Minoxidil is applied topically to the scalp, however a high percentage of any treatment which is applied topically to the scalp is absorbed by the superficial epidermal tissues so preventing it from passing down the hair follicle to the target site, the dermal papilla, at the base of the follicle at approximately 3mm to 4mm from the surface of the skin. Even without any adverse scalp disorders such as dandruff the build up of dead epidermal cells on the surface of the skin is enough to act as a sponge, able to absorb a high proportion of any topically applied treatment.

The Tony Maleedy Juniper Therapy Shampoo removes all excess scale from the surface of the epidermis (very importantly, it does this without stimulating the rate of epidermal turnover), so significantly reducing the quantity of scale available to absorb Minoxidil, allowing a higher proportion of the treatment to reach the target site.  Clinical tests carried out in the UK have shown a marked improvement in the efficacy of Minoxidil when it is used in conjunction with Tony Maleedy Juniper Therapy Shampoo.
